Home Defense With a Handgun Course:
A comprehensive introduction to defensive shooting within a home. This class consists of both class time and range exercises.
Home Defense w/a Handgun Course, a comprehensive intro to defensive shooting set in a home defense scenario. Subjects cover the full spectrum of knowledge and skills one needs to defend against a home invasion. Five hours of classroom training with 2-3 hours on the range firing 100-150 rounds.
We limit class size to enhance your experience and ensure we have enough materials, ammunition, equipment on hand. Details below:
Classroom subjects include Self-Defense Mindset, Situational Awareness, Home Invasion Paradigm, Home Hardening/Safe Room Prep, Physiological & Psychological Responses to Stress, Shooting Aftermath, Selecting A Pistol For Self Defense, and more.
The shooting portion of the course focuses on specific skills needed in home invasion scenarios. Some of the defensive shooting skills taught include Defensive Accuracy, Accelerated Shooting, Firing from behind cover/concealment, Point shooting, Move to cover/engage, Verbal challenge, One-handed shooting, Reloading techniques and more.
Prerequisites: 21 years or older, a law-abiding adult with no felonies/orders of protection. The course requires 150 rounds and competency beyond a concealed carry course. A sturdy holster, magazine pouch, and three magazines are highly recommended.
Before taking the class, students should have taken our Fundamentals course or submit training documentation of similar class, or have a safety/shooting assessment. We want you to be safe and ready for the class.
Students receive Home Defense folder summarizing class material, a course completion certificate, and more.

Instructor:
The primary instructor at W2TF is Will Rodriguez who served over 20 years as an Infantry Officer and in combat. Post army service, Will has completed almost 600 hours of firearm, personal security, crime prevention, and trauma medicine training. He holds numerous instructor ratings including Rangemaster Certified Instructor, multiple NRA Pistol Instructor certs, Refuse to Be a Victim Crime Prevention Instructor and ALiCE Active Shooter Instructor.
