New Law Allowing Concealed Firearms In Florida Airports Is About Dead in the Water

airport security firearm

Sen Wilton Simpson has sponsored senate bill 1500 this year which proposes that the current restriction on airports for Florida concealed carry holders be removed to allow permit holders to be armed when visiting non-secure areas of the airport. This would be in line with a large number of other US states that allow for permit holders to carry when visiting the airport to drop someone off or pick someone up without passing through TSA security.

The proposal isn’t looking good as the House companion bill – HB 4051, hasn’t been heard by any of the three committees to which it has been. Without some success in the house this fight might be over before it gets started.
